1947 MG TC

An absolute survivor.  We’re delighted to offer this gorgeous 1947 MG TC in very good order and ready for the road….

Recent maintenance has been carried out by M. Wilson & Co. County Durham.  Some £1,800 was invested with them in April 2014 for a thorough service and mechanical overhaul which encompassed many other components such as replacement engine mountings, door hinge pins, repair to the petrol tank, repair to wood beneath drivers’ seat bottom as well as replacement front and rear brake shoes, hub oil seals, brake master cylinder and oil flexi-pipe.

A diagnostic test conducted in June 2015 showed 8.5:1 compression ratio which is higher than original.  The compression testing on all four cylinders was encouraging, and a light tune, fresh oils, replacement fuel pipe between pump and carbs and minor repair to dynamo tongue drive means this car actually behaves very well on the road and in traffic…. Although land speed record material it ain’t!

This car is heavily patinated, but charming rather than scruffy or unkempt.  Improvements could be made over time to some of the paintwork to eradicate some of the crazing visible in the photographs, but in our opinion to do so would destroy some of the soul of this car….

Importantly, our car is sold with its original registration, original style continuation buff log book from 1959, a 1947 tax disc, many bills and invoices from as early as 1971, and even an MOT certificate from the late 1960’s.  It has UK V5C naturally and is MOT exempt.

We feel our car is priced very fairly to allow a new custodian to make cosmetic improvements if they wished, but your earliest viewing is invited to come and see for yourself…
